Democratic Presidential primary

by Erik Hungerbuhler last modified May-09-2008 04:48 PM

The Democratic Party presidential primary race in Kentucky is between U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and U.S. Senator Barack Obama. Officially, John Edwards is still a candidate in Kentucky though he has suspended his campaign. Kentucky has 60 delegates to the Democratic convention; 34 of these are to be proportionately allocated in each congressional district to presidential candidates or the uncommitted preference based on the vote in that district. Seventeen are to be proportionately allocated based on the statewide vote. The other 9 are “sudelegates” (mostly party leaders and elected officials).
